Learning
Bucky Beaver aims to build
self-esteem through development in several vital areas of a child's growth:
Physical and Motor Development
Children learn how motor and
fine-motor activities work together to benefit their growing bodies. Outdoor
activities allow children to experiment and explore as an extension of the
outdoor learning environment.
Cognitive Development
Children learn best by doing,
and at Bucky Beaver, they are provided with many opportunities for choice and
experimentation. we provide a well-balanced
curriculum of math, language, science,
music, art, and social studies that is designed to enhance positive feelings
toward learning.
Creative Development
Children develop their
creativity not only through what they produce, but through what they attempt and
explore. At Bucky Beaver, this is emphasized through musical expression,
dramatic play, and activities in the Art Center.
Parent and Teacher
Relationships
Children succeed when teachers
and parents become partners and recognize, together, the necessity of ongoing
positive communication. We make parents part of our program through:
- Monthly
newsletters and activity calendars
- Parent/teacher
conferences
- Parent
participation in field trips and other volunteer activities
Individuality
Each child's uniqueness is
recognized and celebrated through the following activities:
- Home visits in
the summer
- A dinner out with
the director & a teacher in small groups
- Birthday
celebrations
- Individual
show-and-tell time every month
- A special day for
each child, where the child becomes a "Star" for the day
